Ingemi Corporation Named April Innovation Rocks! Award Winner

The development of a product which helps to prevent hearing loss in children has led to the Ingemi Corporation being named the Innovation Rocks! award winner by the New Hampshire Business Resource Center for the month of April.

iHearSafe Earbuds, the brainchild of Amherst stay-at-home mom Christine Ingemi, restricts the volume of music emanating from MP3 players, CD players, iPods and Gameboys. Without the earbuds, music can easily be turned up beyond the 85 decibel threshold identified by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration as the maximum volume a human ear can tolerate before hearing damage begins.

iHearSafe Earbuds were recently named one of the top 25 inventions of 2007 in the History Channels Modern Marvels: Invent Now Challenge. Next month, Ingemis invention will compete against a pool of 24 other semi-finalists for a $25,000 grand prize.

This local innovation truly has the ability to change peoples lives for the better, said New Hampshire Business Resource Center Director Roy Duddy. Our children are our most precious resource and this invention was developed with their health and safety as a top priority. Im thrilled that iHearSafe Earbuds originated right in our own backyard.

Innovation Rocks! is an initiative sponsored by the Business Resource Center in coordination with Rock 101 (WGIR-FM) and the Hilton Garden Inn in Manchester to celebrate the creativity and ingenuity of New Hampshire businesses.
